Sam has been active with the youth of Malawi for over 20 years.  He is Professor of Linguistics at the University of California Berkeley.

Ruth Okubo - C0-Founder, Treasurer - Email

Ruth spent 16 years in the classroom as a primary teacher and is now serving in the Peace Corps in Southern Africa.  She previously served as a Literacy Coach in the West Contra Costa Unified School District.  Her degrees include a B.A. in Psychology and an M.S. in Educational Psychology.  She has devoted twenty years to organizing youth and adult soccer in the San Francisco Bay Area.  The children of Cameroon inspired her to become co-founder and creator of SAM, Inc. after a trip to that country in 2005.

Janet Ceja-Orozco: Secretary & Fund Raising - Email

Janet is the founder of San Pablo United Youth Soccer Club, and a long-time advocate for youth sports programs.  She has traveled extensively throughout Central America and has been active with youth programs in Malawi for the last ten years, collecting sports equipment from local donors and contributors for the youth of Malawi.

 

Matt Dearing : Vice President, Web Designer - Email

Matt is a former US Marine who has traveled the world and seen many places.  He recently returned from a research trip in Afghanistan.  He earned a BA in International Political Economy at UC Berkeley in 2006 and after graduating, he traveled to Malawi to  document and participate in SAM Inc programs.  He is currently in graduate school.  You can see  his work here and on his personal website:  www.mattdearing.com
